Lunch in Edinburgh

Arrived in Edinburgh at 11:30 and check-in is at 15:00 so I am having a delightful lunch in Elbow.  Lentil soup, chicken and leek pie with puff crust, a Heineken, chips, and I just might go for a sticky pud.

Overcast here and I don't want to pull my suitcase around so I'm staying put for a while until I check in.

....a bit later...

Now checked in, host is a very gracious young guy.  Went out to see a museum of musical instruments then, tired out, I took the 11 bus back to my room where I am having a tea.

As an aside, my videos caught the eye of someone on YouTube who is cycling the perimeter of the continental USA.  He requested, and I approved him becoming one of my YouTube friends.  He started in Seattle and has gone south and east hitting Key West and is now in the Allegheny Gap.  He has no schedule and is a fervent bicycling evangelist.

  1. Gosh, what a lovely lunch!

Someone must have tossed a cigarette butt into the ... oh, what the hell are they called... dumpster at the apartment building. Alas, the building did not burn down. The fire department was out in full force, though.

  2. Jim,

There is a charming Russian place at 5 Canonmills, not far from the Botanic Garden. All of two tables. Lovely and simple food. If you are in the area, I highly recommend it.

    Enjoy!

  4. Hi Jim!
Such excellent reporting - I, almost, wish you would stay longer!
I am going to miss clicking onto - initially - the beautiful background
of hills and forest - to be followed by your latest happenings. You are an absolute gem to make your trip available.

Love to read about the food especially the leek and chicken pie - alas, made the pathetic discovery that I have gained 5lb since March - am
now down to a minimalistic diet and trying not to look at food pictures.
Take care, dear friend, and enjoy the rest of your trip!~ Joani

  5. Ha ha, I actually didn't have the sticky pud that time. I'm not using 2000 extra calories a day any longer so I too must watch it.
